• 1332 BC – 1323 BC Tutankhamun -- the boy king Tutankhamun (c.1332-1323 BC) is a minor pharaoh who reigned for approximately nine years and died at 18-19, yet is now the most famous of all pharaohs -- solely because his tomb in the Valley of the Kings was found essentially intact by Howard Carter on 4 November 1922. The tomb's 5,000+ objects include the golden death mask, the most recognisable artefact of the ancient world.
