1874First Impressionist ExhibitionMonet, Renoir, Degas and others exhibit independently in ParisA group of independent French painters, later dubbed Impressionists after Claude Monet's Impression, Sunrise, held their first exhibition in the studio of photographer Nadar on Boulevard des Capucines. The show broke from the official Paris Salon and introduced a new style of loose brushwork and everyday subject matter. It ran for one month and included work by Monet, Renoir, Degas, Pissarro, Cezanne and Morisot.
