1890Forth Bridge opensCantilever railway bridge spans the Firth of ForthThe Forth Bridge, a cantilever railway bridge spanning the Firth of Forth in Scotland, opened to traffic. At the time it was the longest single cantilever bridge span in the world and remains a landmark of Victorian engineering. It was formally opened by the Prince of Wales.
1890 – 1986Vyacheslav Molotov (1890-1986)Died 8 November 1986, aged 96Soviet statesman who served as foreign minister under Stalin and lent his name to the 1939 Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact with Nazi Germany. He was later expelled from the Communist Party leadership by Khrushchev during de-Stalinization. He was readmitted to the party shortly before his death.
