She spent the first 27 years of her career on stage, in cabaret and on television before reinventing herself at 49 as a writer of more than 50 books. Her TV series Vrouwenvleugel won the Gouden Televizier-Ring in 1994. The magazine Opzij called her "the queen of the light novel." She died on 5 July 2026, six days before her 94th birthday, and was at the time of her death the oldest columnist in the Netherlands.
