1866 – 1945Thomas Hunt Morgan (1866-1945)Died 4 December 1945, aged 79Morgan was an American geneticist whose experiments with fruit flies established the chromosomal theory of heredity. He won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1933 for demonstrating how genes are carried on chromosomes. His work founded modern experimental genetics.
