1871 – 1950Heinrich Mann (1871-1950)Died 11 March 1950, aged 78Heinrich Mann was a German novelist and elder brother of Thomas Mann, best known for the novel Professor Unrat, adapted into the film The Blue Angel. A vocal critic of Nazism, he fled Germany in 1933 and eventually settled in the United States. He died in Santa Monica, California, shortly before a planned return to East Germany.

He was sentenced to fourteen years in prison. The case exposed major breaches in Western nuclear security during the early Cold War.
