They have two sons, Tyler and Wilder. Six months later he moves in with Alicia Monckton, a 22-year-old receptionist at The Spectator, having cut short his honeymoon to be with her. The resulting public war between Liddle and Royce -- conducted across the tabloid press with baroque vindictiveness on both sides -- becomes one of the most talked-about media divorces of the decade. The episode is immortalised by Irish journalist Eamon Dunphy on live television during Champions League coverage on RTE, when he dismisses Liddle as "the guy who ran away and left his wife for a young one" -- widely regarded as one of the great moments in Irish broadcasting history.
