2009Star Trek (2009) — J.J. Abrams rebootJ.J. Abrams relaunches the franchise with an alternate "Kelvin Timeline" created by time travel, allowing a new cast to play the original characters — Chris Pine as Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Zoe Saldaña as Uhura. Spectacular action, controversial among purists for its departure from Roddenberry's ethos, enormously commercially successful. Budget: $150 million. Gross: $386 million.
