1865 – 1927Ferdinand I of Romania (1865-1927)Died 20 July 1927, aged 61Ferdinand I was King of Romania from 1914. He led the country through the First World War, and during his reign Transylvania, Bessarabia and Bukovina were united with Romania to form Greater Romania.

In 1918 she became the first woman elected to the British House of Commons, though she did not take her seat. She was later one of the first women in the world to hold a cabinet post.
